Errno 256 no more mirrors to try

I am trying to install metasploit on crentos 6.6 server

now when i tried to yum install or wget or even git any bundle i got errors

then after alot of search i found that it is a problem in the DNS so i tried to edit /etc/resolv.conf

and add 8.8.8.8 as name server it worked fine but after server reboot or even eth0 restart it keeps returning without the modifications i made

Resolution

Check the network connectivity. If you are using IP addresses to configure firewall whitelist for access to the content delivery network (CDN), please ensure they’re updated based on this list: Public CIDR Lists for Red Hat (IP Addresses for cdn.redhat.com)

Check what files are present under /etc/yum.repos.d directory by:-

  • If the system is registered to RHN Classic, only rhel-source.repo should be present under /etc/yum.repos.d/ .
    If the system is registered with Red Hat Subscription Manager (RHSM) via subscription-manager, rhel-source.repo and ‘redhat.repo’ are present.
    If any local repositories, or any other media repositories are present, remove them by :-
  • Remove old yum cache from system by running following commands:

    I am having some problem installing 32-bit Fedora20 OS over the network. At the installation summary page, under the software installation source section, using the default closest mirror option, I keep getting the following fatal error during installation:

    As it appears that Fedora has some problem locating mirrors, I tried manually specifying a URL for the base repository, such as:

    I tried a few URLs, but all, except the URL closest to where I stay which causes the above fatal error, give me the following error:
